The family of actor Heath Ledger is expected to arrive in New York City Friday to deal with funeral arrangements.

His body was taken to a funeral home Wednesday but no official plans were announced.

Ledger will be buried in his home town of Perth, Australia.

The Australian newspaper reports that Heath’s father will be attending an event, believed to be some kind of memorial, in Los Angeles at the end of the week.

Australian model Gemma Ward, who was last romantically linked with the star, is also expected to attend.

Gemma’s sister, Sophie, who is also a model, told the West Australian newspaper that Heath had sworn off alcohol over the Christmas holidays amid a bout of anxiety over being unable to see his daugther, Matilda.
