According to Variety, Michael Davies wants to create a new reality show. It is similar to IMG’s The World’s Strongest Man competition, but instead involves celebrities.
Obviously, the writer’s strike is an excellent opportunity for reality show producers to pitch all kinds of new ideas. This one is kind of funny but has potential. I can see several professional wrestlers participating in this one, each trying to see how far they can carry the refrigerator.
And why stop at men I’m sure they’ll let buff women (such as Joanie Laurer) participate to see how high she can lift the log (no double-entendre intended).
There can even be crossover with shows like American Gladiator (whose participants look pretty buff themselves). And I can see spin-offs like “The World’s Weakest Celebrity”, starring such has-beens as Gary Coleman and Dustin Diamond. I can see this show having “lowest common denominator” written all over it, which would make it perfect for network T.V. Maybe even cable.
