British comedian Steve Coogan is slamming ex-girlfriend Courtney Love for saying he may be responsible for Owen Wilson’s downward spiral which led to a suicide attempt.

In a statement released to Access Hollywood, Coogan denied statements made by Love that he was responsible for supplying or encouraging Wilson’s drug use.

Coogan says, “My thoughts are with my friend Owen at this difficult time, but I do want to set the record straight and say that the allegations published today are completely and utterly false.”

Steve starred opposite Owen in Night at the Museum and dated Courtney back in 2006.

Love told Us Weekly, “Under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t comment but I care too much about Owen. I went through this with Steve. I was just out of rehab and he was right there with the drugs. I tried to warn Owen.

“I tried to warn his friends. I adore the Wilson brothers. I hope, from the bottom of my heart, that Owen stays the hell away from that guy and surrounds himself with good people who care about him for who he is and not what they can get from him.”
