I never know whether to laugh or cry when people talk and spell so horribly online. But fear not my Internet friends!, this Thanksgiving season I have composed a list of reasons “y 2 b thnkfl “4 typng lyke dis”! *

R3asons 2 b thnkfl 4 ppl typing lyke dis

1. It saves time. It’s so much quicker to type “lol u r so fnny grl!” then “I’m laughing out loud, you’re so funny girl!” Look how much time you can save! Precious seconds! You can be off doing something important like… saving cats from trees with all that extra time! But seriously when you are on the run and need to say you have to go before your mom unplugs your computer and grounds you for a month, “gtg ttyl” is way faster than “I got to go. I’ll talk you later”.

2. You can make up your own words. The other day my friend went “twsmf!” during our AIM conversation and I went “huh “. Apparently she was saying “That was so much fun”.

Jillian: yeh it meanz ‘that wuz so much fun’. haven’t u heard that b4 lollol sista Me: uhhh haha no I haven’t. I don’t think it’s a real word- AIM or not Jill.

It’s a good thing I love that girl to pieces in real life because I might strangle her if she was as stupid as she seemed over AIM. Or should I say ’stoopid’.

3. Texting. It saves money for people who pay for texts by the letter. “ttyl” is way less expensive than “I’ll talk to you later”

4. You can confuse adults. And people who don’t have AIM. Or people who refuse to not talk with correct grammatical ways. Leave your mom a note saying “mom- gtg 2 ginas. pick us ^ @ 3 2 go 2 mvs. ttyl. kthxbye. -ily” and she might be a little confused and you might miss your airing of Across The Universe.

5. You sound cool. N boyz wll ttly wnt 2 d8 u! That is if your definition of cool is Paris Hilton or Britney Spears and you go for sleazy guys.

6. “Well you’re stupid.” If anyone who “tlks lyke dis” insults you, you can just go “well at least I know how to spell and talk better than an 8 year old and at a third grade level!”. Ahh, that comeback will never get old.

7. It saves money! Why bother getting an education, paying attention in school, or going to college when everyone talks “lyke dis” Save thousands of dollars and years of your life!

And finally…

8. You can be thankful you don’t talk like that. If you don’t talk like that you can be thankful that you seem educated and polite via the internet. You will seem more put together and people will both listen to you more and take you and your opinions more seriously.
