Tom Cruise

Robert Redford’s new film Lions for Lambs opened today, and the reviews aren’t good. What’s worse, Redford seems to be trying to walk away from this trainwreck and his deranged co-star in an inconspicuous but rapid manner. Case in point: When Tom Cruise was honored by the American Musem of the Moving Image, neither Redford nor Meryl Streep, the movie’s third big name, bothered to show up. When asked why, the usual anonymous source said, “Meryl and Bob can’t stand Tom. In London, Tom kept trying to push himself into interviews. Bob said, ‘No.’ Tom wouldn’t listen. Meryl has done almost nothing for the movie. She wants nothing to do with him.”

This does not bode well. Tom is reportedly extremely worried about the box office prospects of Lions for Lambs. The film is tracking worse with audiences than any Tom Cruise film since Endless Love, and the future of Tom’s United Artists studio label is riding on its success. Of course, all hope is not yet lost. Tom still has that crowd-pleaser Valkyrie to look forward to, where he plays a likeable Nazi who tries to assassinate Hitler. (SPOILER ALERT: He fails.) Yeah, Xenu is taking this career in exciting directions.
