Pssst………..I need to confide in you……………
I’m a clumsy type of person. Both physically and verbally. If an opportunity arises to publicly humiliate myself I’m there to make the most of it. Whether its taking a tumble in front of strangers or realising Ive spoken out loud what I really only
meant to think, I suffer embarrassment regularly.

There is, however, for me, one saving grace. And that is that in the back of my mind I know that no matter how cringe-worthy my accidents and indiscretions are, no matter how stupid I come across, there is always someone out there that will go one better. I can feel safe in the knowledge that (unless I chose to share) the audience to my misdemeanours is small.
And so I’d like to give thanks to the following celebrities for minimizing my folly in my own mind and reminding me that famous people mess up too…
Im thankful to Pete Wentz for reminding me that we can all get carried away with the lust of it…

When ‘those’ pics of Mr Wentz appeared for the world to see, I breathed an audible sigh of relief…..If anyone should know that its not wise to strip down to your altogether and pose for photos before sending them to someone else - then media savvy Pete should - right? Even if it seems like a good idea at the time? So us mere mortals should not be ashamed of distant memories involving underwear modelling, ex-boyfriends and their ever so helpful, photograph developing mothers, then? Well, that’s what I will be telling myself anyway.
Im Thankful to Britney Spears for highlighting that I am NOT the only one who thinks cutting my own hair is a good idea whilst under the influence of the demon drink…
When I first saw those pics of a bald Britney, I, unlike many others did not laugh. What I did was, feel a pang of empathy. I know how it starts, just a trim to the ends, then before you know it you’re doing your best impression of a frightened cockatiel. So if I ever get the irrational urge to do this again, when I wake up in the morning, my head feels lighter and realisation slowly dawns I’ll think BRIT and all will be right with the world.
Im thankful to Gwen Stefani for her wonderful eccentricity (or frankly downright stark raving bonkerishness) in the fashion stakes…

You know those times when you’ve gone out wearing something you’re not altogether sure about? Then later, whilst reminiscing, you come across the photographic evidence of that outfit and realise you were right to be concerned? That happens to me a lot.
Not as often as it happens to Gwen though apparently. AND she has a stylist to advise her. Still, while she keeps on inventing these wonderful new ways to dress who’s going to notice that I wore tartan trousers last week?
Im thankful to Paris Hilton for this:
‘If I could read a book, I’d definitely read one of yours’.
And this:
‘What’s Wal-Mart? Do they sell, like Wall stuff’?
And this:
“I want to have kids in the next two or three years. I just haven’t found the right person. I can’t wait to have a little daughter and dress her up.”
The next time I put my foot in my mouth, say something stupid or I’m having a dumb day, I promise myself I will go online and look up Paris quotes it’ll make me feel better.
And last but by no means least im thankful to Fergie for reminding me that being a woman comes with its own hazards…

Apparently it happens to us all. We get older, have kids, approach middle age and things don’t work quite like they used to. Sometimes it takes the brain a while to catch up with the bladder and sometimes it gets there too late. This is definitely something I will keep in mind when its time for me to start buying the Tena pants. Whether it first comes to light during vigorous exercise (highly unlikely), a particularly hearty cough or a damn good belly laugh I will remember that I am not alone and that incontinence is nothing to be ashamed of….
Has a celeb taught you something to be grateful for? Let me know in the box below…
