Paying it forward.

There is an “official” definition of what “Paying it Forward” means out in the world here but what does it mean to me? I am asking this question after a long discussion with a friend about this subject as far as Buzznet is concerned.

What does paying it forward mean as a member of this community?

Is it commenting in the forums?

Is it buzzing and suggesting people’s work?

Is it posting testimonials about other members that we think deserve recognition?

Is it a word of encouragement left in a comment?

Is it getting together to uplift and support another member in a difficult time?

Is it sending a private message to offer advice or to uplift?

Is it sharing technical advice to those who need help with code and posting?

Is it pointing people to others who have a talent to share but may be getting overlooked?

Is it dropping a note on someone’s page that has been absent for awhile?

What is it?

Are we doing enough?

Am I doing enough?

Are we getting caught up in the inevitable drama of the forums, of screaming our opinions and fighting over who’s more popular?

Are we being sidetracked by what has become known as the Pink hairs on here and not going deeper into the community to see what we can offer it?

Are we only looking for what we can get out of Buzznet and not what we can put into it?

Are we succumbing to the cliques and trying to build our friends list without thought to who we add?

What are we doing here? What am I doing here?

Relevant questions? Perhaps not. Just food for thought.
