LIVE FROM NEW YORK, IT’S SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!

Alright, so Saturday Night Live isn’t what it used to be but back in the day, it had some pretty amazing characters. These are my top 10 most memorable characters from the show.

Quick description of the show (for those of you who don’t know): Saturday Night Live was one of the landmark programs of the 1970s, an attempt to bring fresh, often outrageous comedy and the excitement of live TV (from New York) to late-night viewers. It featured “The Not Ready for Primetime Players,” a repertory company of wacky comics who presented 90 minutes of topical satire, straight comedy, and music every Saturday night. Each week a different guest star served as host and the person around whom many of the sketches were written.

10. Martin Short (SNL cast 1984-1985) as Ed Grimley

9. Eddie Murphy (SNL cast 1981-1984) as Gumby

8. Molly Shannon (SNL cast 1994-2001) as Mary Katherine Gallagher

7. Gilda Radner (SNL cast 1975-1980) as Roseanne Roseannadanna

*Note: This next part was tough. Let’s see if I can pull this off.

5. Dan Aykroyd (SNL cast 1975-1979) as Beldar Conehead
6. Jane Curtain (SNL cast 1975-1980) as Prymaat Conehead

4. Mike Myers (SNL cast 1988-1995) as Wayne Campbell

3. Dana Carvey (SNL cast 1986-1993) this one has to be a tie between Garth Algar and The Church lady

2. Chris Farley (SNL cast 1990-1995) as Matt Foley, world famous motavational speaker.

*Quick note - please ignore the untalented ass next to Chris Farley. He so doesn’t count.

1. John Belushi (SNL cast 1975-1979) as Samurai Warrior

Name some characters from Satureday Night Live that you think should’ve been on this list.
